Xbox 360 Elite

ELITE_Bundle_ANL

I have to share some exciting news.  The Xbox 360 Elite has dropped $100 in price to a new MSRP of $299.  The Elite console comes with a massive 120 gig hard drive, headset and network cable, and for the holidays, two games Lego Batman and Pure.  I love the game selection as it gives you something for the entire family.  For the golfers in the family, test your skills against the best in EA SPORTS Tiger Woods PGA TOUR’10.  Just when your confidence level is at its highest because you beat every family member and neighbor, go on-line with Xbox LIVE to compete with the best of the best!  Also make sure you check out the new racing game Forza Motorsport 3.  This game is probably the closest I will ever get to drive my dream car the Ford Mustang Shelby Edition.  Another great feature of the Xbox 360 is you can join Netflix and download movies to your system and watch them in high definition!  For pricing and game information to check out the Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Bundle, or the stand alone Xbox 360 system, visit www.xbox.com.

FUEL by Codemasters

Fuel PC rgb ESRB packFUEL_ 11-51-28-13

Review by Shane Morrison

Looking for an open world playground of Dirt, Aggression and Competition? Look no further, the geniuses over at Codemasters are at it again with FUEL.  This game is the definitive off-road junkies dream, catering to both those who enjoy tearing through the vast 50,000 square miles of terrain on either 2 or 4 wheels. This coupled with its 16 player online competition mode, makes this game a winning team. But would you expect less from the creators of the insanely popular rally Series Dirt? The game centers around working your way up through a series of 70 career races and challenges, working your way to the top of the FUEL racing circuit. These aren’t your normal A to B challenges either, we’re talking chasing helicopters over some of the most challenging terrain that modern gaming can offer, running down competitors in Baja trucks and muscle cars, or carving out your own path to over mountains and through rivers to the finish line in the time allotted.  This game keeps it fresh from the moment you pick it up to the moment you put it down…which I had a hard time doing. And believe me, with 75 vehicles to unlock using “Fuel” the monetary equivalent in the game, you’ll keep finding that excuse for “just one more race”.   Open world games have come a long way in the last 5 years, and Fuel is no exception. We ran FUEL on my custom gaming rig (I’ve included the specs below) and had no problem running on the highest graphics settings.  But fear not!  The game is available on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, so you have plenty of options to get your game on!  Wanna see more ? Check out www.fuel-game.com

Tested on:  Intel Core 2 Quad q6600@2.4ghz, 6gb DDR2 800mhz Ram, Visiontek ATI Radeon HD4650 1gb video card (over-clocked), Xbox Wireless Receiver and Wireless Gampad

EA Sports Active

by admin on Oct.15, 2009, under Fitness, Gaming

EA ActiveI’m sure you have all heard the term “Freshman 15”!  It is very common to go off to school and gain at least 15 pounds in your freshman year.  I have the perfect gadget to help keep the weight off.  If you are bringing a Wii with you to school, make sure you also bring EA Sports Active for the Wii.  I will be the first to admit to saying, “OK what can a video game do to help me lose weight?”  EA Sports Active kicks my butt!  It’s much different than running on a treadmill because it is interactive and fun.  The leg sensor and personal trainer ensure you are giving the effort needed and doing the exercise properly.  They have a 30 day challenge that can easily help you keep off the freshman 15.   20 plus years later I am still trying to work off all the beer I drank in college!  Visit www.easportsactive.com to check out videos of the game and view actual testimonials from people who have lost weight and got in shape using EA Sports Active.

Madden 10 and NCAA Football 10 by EA Sports

by admin on Aug.24, 2009, under Gaming

madden10NCAA10_MichaelCrabtree_x360front

For those who waited in line tonight, there is nothing is better than getting the boys together to play some Madden NFL 10 or NCAA Football 10 by EA SPORTS on the Xbox 360.  If you are going to a Big 10 college or your local state college, one cool thing about NCAA Football 10 is you can create your own team and put it in the game with NCAA Football 10 TeamBuilder.  Let’s face it, my Fitchburg State College Eagles football team would never make it into an EA SPORTS game until now.  I went online to http://teambuilder.easports.com and created my team, customizing the players, strategy, colors, field and everything you can think of to make a custom team.  You can customize players to play specific roles on offense or defense.  The feel of the game and actually running option plays truly feels like college football.  When it’s time to move up to the pros, Madden NFL 10 football lives up to the challenge and should be in every sports fan game collection.  The XBox360 version gives you everything you expect from Madden Football games, and the Wii version gives you the thrill of real action sports movements.  I have been playing Madden NFL Football since the original Sega days and look forward to the new additions from EA SPORTS each year.  I like playing Madden NFL Football because it is truly one of the games where the computer can give you a run for your money.  Add in Xbox LIVE and you can challenge your friends back home to an on-line game.  If you look at my video game library you will see at least a few years of every sports game by EA SPORTS.  Keep up to date with all the changes at www.easports.com

EA SPORTS PREDICTS THE UPCOMING NFL SEASON USING MADDEN NFL 10

EA SPORTS PREDICTS THE UPCOMING NFL SEASON USING MADDEN NFL 10

Here’s hoping the prediction comes true!!!!!

August 4, 2009 — The 2009 NFL season will, once again, be ruled by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, according to the official Madden NFL 10 Season Simulation.  With the August 14th release of Madden NFL 10 less than 2 weeks away, EA SPORTS gazed into the crystal ball to predict the divisional winners and league leaders of the 2009 NFL season.

After missing nearly the entire 2008 season due to an injured left knee, Tom Brady led the New England Patriots to the best overall record (14-2) as he compiled over 4,500 yards and threw for 47 touchdowns – also being named the season MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.

The rest of the AFC played out similar to last season, as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers won their divisions, while the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens secured the AFC Wild Card spots.  The biggest surprise was the performance of New York Jets rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez, who took home the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.  It was not enough, however, as the Jets once again failed to make the playoffs.

In the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles returned to prominence, winning the toughest division (NFC East), thanks to a 12-4 record.  Andy Reid was awarded Coach of the Year.  The Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons prove that last year wasn’t a fluke as they took home their division crowns.  The Jay Cutler-led Chicago Bears will also rebound in a big way, taking the NFC North division.  The New York Giants and Carolina Panthers grabbed the NFC Wild Card spots.

NFL 2009 Season Awards (as simulated by Madden NFL 10):

  • NFL MVP – Tom Brady, New England Patriots
  • Offensive Player of the Year – Tom Brady, New England Patriots
  • Defensive Player of the Year – Patrick Willis, San Francisco 49ers
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year – Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year – Brian Orakpo, Washington Redskins

Coach of the Year – Andy Reid, Philadelphia Eagles.

Battlefield Heroes by Electronic Arts

by admin on Jul.15, 2009, under Gaming

screen-6screen-1This is my first straight to blog post.  People have said I have been looking tired the past few days, and quite frankly they are right!  The reason, Battlefield Heroes by Electronic Arts!  I have been up until 1:00am playing this interactive on-line game.  I know I am not alone as over ONE MILLION people have downloaded and registered to play this game.  This is EA’s most recent free to download, free to play on-line game.  Want to join me?  Go to www.battlefieldheroes.com and download the game and enter into this on-line community.  You can create your own hero and be fighting within minutes.  Choose wisely as you will need to select what type of fighter you would like to be and which side you will represent during game play.  Each time I have logged on, I have had no problems getting into a game.  My character is ELVISNH and is a sniper.  Most rounds I can be found on a mini-gun trying to shoot down planes, then going stealth to try to snipe out my enemies.  I actually have to laugh because my 15 year old son is laughing at me because I have been playing so much.  It is quite a sight watching me move my body (which does absolutely nothing) as I fly the plane, or drive the tank for the Red Army!  This is a very fun, and as I have shown addicting game!  Download it today as I could certainly use the help on the Battlefield!

Man Cave Part II- XBox360

by admin on Jun.05, 2009, under Gaming

xbox-360-3qrtr

What man cave would be complete without a gaming system? I have tried just about every system out there, but when it comes down to my man cave there is only one, the Xbox360. It is pretty cool using the high definition Epson projector with the Xbox360. The high definition graphics look awesome even with a screen size of 120 inches. Playing games like Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty in high definition is simply amazing. I’ve been absolutely hooked on Gears of War 2. I will have to admit; I am not as good as my son when it comes to Xbox LIVE, which is an on-line community for Xbox360 players. I log in through my network connection and get my butt kicked in 30 seconds, he logs in and kicks some butt. If I didn’t know better, I would think he was up in his little man cave just waiting for me to log on. I often wonder if it’s some 8-year-old kid lighting me up on-line. I keep telling myself it’s a highly trained soldier. It’s great to go down to the man cave and leave the stress behind while I am playing on my Xbox360. Now with Xbox LIVE and a Netflicks subscription, you can download movies instantly to your Xbox360. So if you are not in the mood to play a game, you can watch the latest movies on your Xbox360. When I am playing a game, I usually crank up the tunes when I play. However, I’m not a big fan of some of the music tracks in most games. With the Microsoft Zune, I can sync up with the Xbox360 and play my favorite playlist while playing games. I actually customized a couple of playlist for specific games I am playing. If I am playing a game from EA Sports, I customize a couple of songs I would hear at the stadium or rink. Check out www.Zune.net for more information and to try out Zune’s free 14-day Zune Pass trial. If you like listening to good music, and want to live out your dream of being a rock star, a great addition for the Xbox360 is Rock Band 2. There is no scarier site than my buddies and I after a couple of Cold River Vodkas trying to play Rock Band 2. If you are not familiar with the Rock Band Games, you have a guitar, bass, drum set and microphone. Everyone is given color-coded keys they have to hit to best play their instrument. For the vocals you are given a tone range of where you need to be to complete the song. Get too many wrong and you get booed off the stage. There are different games within the game such as “battle of the bands” or “tour challenge”. On tour challenges, you have to complete songs at every level to complete the tour. My wife actually came running down into my man cave thinking I was killing our cat, as it turned out it was my turn on the microphone and my rendition of “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. Needless to say it took a couple of times to pass that challenge! For a complete playlist and more information visit www.rockband2.com. For more information on the Xbox360 and all the games out there, check out www.xbox.com.

Command & Conquer Red Alert 3

by admin on Apr.01, 2009, under Gaming

girls-of-red-alert-3 Anytime I can have hot women on my computer and not get in trouble it is generally a good thing. When those women include Jenny McCarthy and Gemma Atkinson it is a great thing! Command & Conquer from Electronic Arts is back! One of EA’s most popular franchise games has returned with Command & Conquer Red Alert 3. Red Alert 3 is now available for PC, Xbox360 and just recently PlayStation 3. I took it back old school and have been hooked on the PC version. It’s been quite a while since I have been gaming on a PC, but it’s good to be back. The SimpleTech Signature Mini USB drive made it easy to load this game to the hard drive and not take up additional needed space. The game loaded very easily and the performance was outstanding. The videos and game play were smooth and crisp. To help with the battles, you can join forces and strategize with friends on-line. I chose to take advantage of the AI commanders to help me with each mission. I found my command skills needed some work, but once I got the hang of it, I started to conquer all who stood in my way. If you want to dig even deeper into the Red Alert universe, you can check out the campaign expansion Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising, available for download now. For all you need to know about the game and to download wallpapers of some of the girls of Red Alert 3, visit the Red Alert website at www.redalert3.com.
